Portrait Milano for Grandi cuochi all’Opera 2023

Every day since 1959, the historic Dining Hall at Corso Concordia in Milan has welcomed those needing help and provided them with a nourishing meal. But once a year, these same premises welcome benefactors who have decided to support Opera San Francesco by participating in the fundraising lunch „Grandi cuochi all’Opera 2023.“ This year, we also attended with the involvement of Cesare Murzilli, Executive Pastry Chef of Portrait Milano. The culinary event on Sunday, October 8, 2023, had the theme „The Stars Embrace Us.“

The stars are those of the excellent Italian cuisine, especially those of the city of Milan, home to OSF, but also renowned and prestigious starred hotels with high-level restaurants and chefs invited by Identità Golose to cook and create a menu for Opera San Francesco and its benefactors for this vital occasion.

Each chef who participated in the initiative prepared a special dish that composed the solidarity menu for OSF’s guests. The meal started in the Cloister of the Convent at Viale Piave 2, with a welcome created by Francesco Mascheroni from Armani Ristorante – Armani Hotel Milano. Guido Paternollo prepared the appetizer from the restaurant Pellico 3 – Park Hyatt Milano. For the first course, Michele Cobuzzi from the restaurant Anima – Milano Verticale | UNA Esperienze took charge. It continued with the main course by Fabrizio Borraccino from the restaurant Zelo – Four Seasons Milano. To conclude, our Cesare Murzilli thoughtfully prepared dessert from the 10_11 Bar, Garden, RestaurantPortrait Milano.

„Grand Chefs at the Opera is a special and important moment for Opera San Francesco, not only because it allows us to raise funds for services for the poor but also because it offers the opportunity to bring together worlds that are often distant. Five-star cuisine comes here where every day, men and women in difficulty ask us for a simple but tasty meal,“ commented Marcello Longhi, President of OSF.

Founded in 1959 by the Capuchin Friars of Viale Piave in Milan, has been, for over 60 years, a place of welcome and support for all those who find themselves in conditions of severe hardship and need material assistance and spiritual comfort. According to the data from the latest Social Balance Sheet, in 2022, OSF provided 657,865 meals for free (almost 2,100 per day), 5,965 changes of clothing, 24,499 showers, treated 27,855 people, and distributed over 43,409 medications.
